My Dad was a Captain in the USAF from 1970-1976. He flew the RC-135 in the SAC. My sister and I were born in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he was stationed. After his service, he became a commerical pilot and worked for Alaska Airlines for nearly 30 years. I really did not know much about his service or truly appreciate his rank and duties until after he passed away two years ago from ALS. He was loyal to his family and country. He was diagnosed 6 mo after retiring at age 60, and lived the last four years the same way he lived them all: humble, brave and always positive. We miss him so much.
