Eugene L Newcomer

Branch: Army
Served: 1974 - 1977
Hometown: Portland, OR
I spent most of my time in Germany. In 1975 I got to go into East Berlin. I was in a museum standing next to a Soviet soldier about my age. We were conversing in German. A Soviet Officer ran up to us and grabbed the soldier and dragged him away yelling in Slavic. August 20, 2009 my left foot dropped. It was believed to be a pinched nerve in my back. On November 9, 2010 I was diagnosed with ALS. I moved back to my birth place of Portland, OR in June of 2011. Thank You; ALS Association, Providence ALS Clinic, PVA and the VA.
