Leonard T. Gagliardi

Branch: Navy
Served: 1942 - 1945
Hometown: Brooklyn, NY
Written by: Helen Gagliardi , Daughter
My Father was a medic in the Navy during WW2 in Casablanca & Morocco, North Africa. He returned to Brooklyn, NY & married Veronica Killorin. They moved to Freeport, NY where he raised his 6 children. He worked for the Daily news. He fought ALS up until his last day. This terrible disease ravaged every part of his body that he became a prisoner of. Even up until his last day, he was awake, aware & sharp as a tack. The cruelest part of ALS is that they know exactly what is happening at all times. His brother Charlie also died from ALS in 1983 - he also was a WW2 veteran & served in the Army.
