Daniel J. Bourson

Branch: Air Force
Served: 1977 - 2004
Hometown: Spokane, WA
I served in the Air Force for 27 years and was diagnosed with ALS in 2003 while on active duty. Although I subsequently discovered that, statistically speaking, military service increased my odds of contracting ALS, I would not change my decision to serve. Yes, my wife and two children sacrificed some things because of my ALS. But the rewards we received from serving far outweigh my slight increased risk of ALS. Even though I can’t do many of the things I hoped for, I’m proud of my family and military service and thankful for ALSA’s continued support.
