Quantum Renews Partnership With The ALS Association

Washington, D.C., (May 3, 2018) — Quantum Rehab, a leading manufacturer of complex rehab power wheelchairs, recently renewed its role as a national partner with The ALS Association, marking the company’s sixteenth year fighting with the Association to make sure people with ALS can live their lives to the fullest. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Eventually, people with ALS lose the ability to initiate and control muscle movement, which often leads to total paralysis and death within five years of diagnosis. For unknown reasons, veterans are twice as likely to develop ALS as the general population. There is no cure.

"It’s our privilege to continue our partnership with the ALS Association in support of those it serves," said Megan Kutch, Marketing Director for Quantum Rehab. "Our products address both the mobility and lifestyle needs of those living with ALS. We’re dedicated toward supporting the ALS Association in its roles in serving the needs of those living with ALS and their families in so many vital ways, including client programs, advocacy and medical research."

Through its partnership, Quantum will support national events including Walk to Defeat ALS events across the country throughout the year, the 2018 National ALS Advocacy Conference in May that will bring together hundreds of ALS advocates to push for better public policy and greater public funding for ALS research, and the annual Clinical Conference of health care providers coming together to discuss research updates and best practices in care for people living with ALS. Quantum will also support the Association’s seat lift grant program.

"Our partnership with Quantum over the years has helped empower people living with this terrible disease. We appreciate their ongoing support and are grateful they are renewing their commitment to keep our momentum going," said Calaneet Balas, president and CEO of The ALS Association.
