A few years after dating this man, his mother developed ALS. At first, they said she had a stroke. Later, it was diagnosed as ALS. It is a horrible disease. But let me tell you about the woman she was before ALS. She was in her 70's and very active. She was a devoted church person. She drove herself everywhere, took care of her adult children and her grandbabies. She went from very active to bed bound in less than three months. She lost he ability to write first, then talk. Then along came the other symptoms. She was scared as things began to happen to her and everyone tried to understand...but was always a strength to her family. Unfortunately Hospice was the only option at one point. May she rest in peace. May everyone that suffers from this disease. May all your family members have the strength and love to keep up the fight.
