Services Expanded for Northern California

Greater Sacremento Chapter

Serving people living with ALS in: 24 counties around the Greater Sacremento area

As a result of the Ice Bucket Challenge, The ALS Association Greater Sacramento Chapter has been able to expand its services into previously underserved parts of Northern California. This area includes approximately eight counties whose distance from the chapter office acted as a major barrier for people with ALS who were unable to travel.

The chapter’s activities in the area include a new monthly support group that provides ALS patients, caregivers, and families an opportunity to meet and discuss a range of medical, emotional, and practical issues. The support group also gives the chapter easy means to distribute equipment from its loan closet, announce chapter developments, demonstrate new equipment, and schedule home visits and safety assessments.
