The ALS Association Help Find A Cure

ALS Equipment Demonstration Space Built

Greater San Diego Chapter

Serving people living with ALS in: Greater San Diego

The Ice Bucket Challenge funds have given The ALS Association Greater San Diego Chapter an opportunity to expand its programs and services and provide additional care and support for people with ALS and their families. For instance, the chapter will build a dedicated space equipped with ALS-appropriate equipment and demonstration tools designed through input from individuals and families living with ALS. The space will be modeled after a typical bedroom/bathroom area and will allow chapter staff to demonstrate to patients, family members, caregivers, and ALS professionals the correct usage of most items they will need throughout the progression of the disease.  Flat screen smart displays will be added in the bedroom to exhibit the latest capabilities and use of ALS equipment.

The chapter will also provide a space for ALS patient support group meetings and increase the resources available for the chapter’s loan closet.
