My dad, Captain Luther E. Rice, Jr., USMC, retired after serving from 1948-71.He served 1 tour of duty in the Korean War and 2 tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He earned the Bronze Star with Combat "V" during his tour in Vietnam from Jan. 1970-Jan. 1971. He served a year at the Naval Air Station in Atsugi, Japan.He was a radar officer then transferred to communications officer. He was an assistant director of the Marine Corps Basic Crime School at the Marine depot in San Diego. From 1971-92 he was both a school teacher and principal. 1991-97 he served as City Judge. Deceased April 8, 2015.
