Joseph Darby was a Professor of Law at the University of San Diego, Navy leader, legal scholar and devoted Catholic. In 1961, before entering academia, Joseph proudly served in the US Navy in the Mediterranean. He joined the Naval Reserve in 1964, serving until 1990 and retiring as a Navy Captain. After active duty, Joseph went on to teach law at the University of San Diego Law School for 47 years. He passed away of ALS in 2013, leaving behind a wife of 50 years, 4 children and 11 grandchildren. Joseph Darby lived his life with great passion and he passionately fought back against ALS.
