My dad joined the army right out of high school. As a private, he worked in the armored school in the message center at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. With the GI Bill, he was able to attend college, become a pharmacist, and with the help of his father in law, purchase his first drugstore, where he filled prescriptions for almost 47 years! He married and raised four children, and was very active in his community. Leg weakness and trouble swallowing were his first symptoms, and sadly he passed away in 2000. With a huge heart, a positive attitude, and wonderful sense of humor, Dad was our hero!
