Robert was a Vietnam veteran. He was a police officer for 25 years. After retirement from the police department he became a barber. He was diagnosed with ALS/FTD bulbar June 29, 2011. He lost his ability to talk mid-July, 2011 and on August 4, 2011 he had to have a stomach peg. On September 21, 2011 he had an accident. He was admitted to the hospital and remained there until October 20,2011 he was moved to a hospice facility where he was removed from the vent. He didn't want to live if he had to live his life on a vent. A very good man lost his life to a very bad disease.
