John Fontes, Sr.

Branch: Army
Served: 1956 - 1959
Hometown: Fiskville, RI
Written by: Fontes Family ,
John Fontes Sr. will always be remembered as a hero, a fighter, a family man, and a great friend. John served the US Army from 1956-1959. He later wed the love of his life, Dotty, and lived his life as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. After being diagnosed with ALS, he lost his hard fought battle in September 2004. John's memory is carried on through a motorcycle run organized by his family. Going on the 9th year, the Ride for Hope raises money for the ALS Association in an effort to help raise awareness and find a cure for the devastating disease.
