Roger was diagnosed with ALS in August of 2011. He served during the Vietnam War, worked hard all his life and had just retired in 2010 when the symptoms appeared. Just weeks before we received the diagnosis, our first grandchild was born. The picture is the face of ALS at our home, a grandfather hoping that he lives long enough that his granddaughter will remember him and know how much he loved her.
