Fred D. Nix,Jr

Branch: Navy
Served: 1970 - 1996
Hometown: Gulfport, MS
Written by: Lydia Nix , wife
Following his father's example meant a lot to Fred- being a faithful husband, father, Christian, joining the military "for life", and now it means fighting daily living with ALS. Although his arms and legs do not move,he cannot eat his favorite foods, and his voice is hard to understand he still smiles and has a strong faith and love for his God, family and country. After serving over 25 years in the military, retirement was suppose to mean "doing the things he always dreamed of"- not spending all day in a wheelchair. Three generations of military service- praying not 3 generations of ALS
