Brig. Gen. Mikolajcik, USAF (Ret.) had a distinguished career in the Air Force serving as Director of Transportation at the Pentagon and a Commander of the 437th Airlift Wing at the Charleston AFB. He served for 27 years.After his diagnosis in 2003, he became an advocate for victims of the disease, with emphasis on veterans.He testified before the Congressional House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs in 2007. He was instrumental in the VA’s decision to grant service-connected disability benefits to all veterans with ALS.He was an advocate for the ALS Registry and founded The SC Chapter in 2006.
