Sharon Lockhart

Branch: Army
Served: 1973 - 1975
Hometown: Mobile, AL
I met my husband Robert while stationed at Ft Hood in Texas. We have three beautiful children, Sheila, Eric and Thomas Jr. I was diagnosed with bulbar ALS in 2010 at the VA in Houston. Since then, it has become more and more difficult to talk, eat and swallow. I decided that only God knows when my time is up and I wanted to leave behind a handprint to be remembered by. I wanted to use whatever I had left to talk about this illness, show strength to others faced with this disease and encourage them to continue to hold on to hope that a cure or treatment is on the horizon.
