Dr. Judith Pratt first became personally aware of ALS in 1999, when she and her family met Scott and Hillary Carlson. Scott had recently been diagnosed with ALS. Over the next four years, they became very close friends, her daughter and Scott developed and incredibly close relationship. She said Scott was her best friend. Tragically, Scott passed away when she was seven. Helping this family keep Scott home throughout his illness and seeing the amount of care and devotion it takes to care for an ALS patient changed our lives.

Dr. Pratt became involved with The ALS Association’s Rhode Island Chapter in 2007 was appointed to the National Board of Trustees in 2013. “I am extremely proud to serve on a board with such dedicated people,” she said. “They truly have the best interest of the people with ALS and their families in mind at all times.”

In addition to her busy dental practice, Dr. Pratt is a member of the local Rotary Club, the Rhode Island Dental Association and enjoys running and yoga. She is also very involved with her children’s activities, which include ice hockey.

“My greatest accomplishments so far are my kids - I'm pretty proud of them,” she said. “A close second is the fact that our Scott Carlson Memorial 5K has raised more than $500,000 dollars in the past 14 years. I have been race director for the last 9 years.”

Dr. Pratt received a BA in Biology from Boston University and a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington. She lives with her family in Warwick, Rhode Island.
