Fred DeGrandis lost his father, Joseph V. DeGrandis, to ALS in January 1997. Along with his mother and his five siblings, he started the “Strike Out! ALS” benefit in 1998 as a third party event. Proceeds from the event benefited local care programs at The ALS Association Northern Ohio Chapter. In 2000, the chapter took ownership of the event, and it is now one its signature events, raising more than $260,000 in 2015. In 2002, Fred joined the chapter’s Board of Directors and served as Chair from 2003-2007. He retired from the chapter board in 2013 and was immediately appointed Chairman Emeritus. He remains an active fundraiser and advocate for the chapter.

Fred M. DeGrandis is an experienced senior executive with 30+ years of healthcare experience and successful leadership in the areas of Hospital, Health System, physician group, and community and civic organizations. He has served as an executive in all major health systems in greater Cleveland, and has extensive experience in the international operations. DeGrandis has and continues to serve as trustee, director and governance leader for many healthcare, civic, education and community organizations.

In June 2016 he was appointed Senior Director Health Care Initiatives, Medic Management Group LLC and is President of NorthShore Medicine. DeGrandis also currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Cancer Treatment Centers of America Global and the ALS Association National Board of Trustees.

Prior to joining Medic Management DeGrandis served as he Managing Director & Chief Administrative Officer of the Global Center for Health Innovation (the “Global Center”). He continues to provide service to the Global Center as a Member of its Executive Advisory Council.

Before his tenure with the Global Center, DeGrandis served 12 years in various senior executive roles at the Cleveland Clinic including President and Chief Executive Officer of the Cleveland Clinic’s nine Regional Hospitals, President of the Cleveland Clinic Health Network, Interim CEO and President and Senior Adviser of Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in the United Arab Emirates, Chairman of the Cleveland Clinic Community Physician Partnership and Quality Alliance and President & CEO of Cleveland Clinic’s three Western Region Hospitals. Before joining the Cleveland Clinic, DeGrandis served as President and CEO of St. John Medical Center (formerly St. John West Hospital) and Chief Legal Officer, Interim CEO and COO at Lakewood Hospital.

He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and received his law degree from Cleveland State University’s John Marshall College of Law. DeGrandis is a lifelong resident of Cleveland.
