Chris W. Brussalis
Chris Brussalis is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Hill Group, Inc., a management consulting firm founded in 1953. The firm is a premier provider of management counsel, specializing in strategy, operations, and measurement. The Hill Group serves a wide range of private and public sector clients, including large corporations, institutions, nonprofits, and governments.
Chris has technical knowledge, academic expertise, and practical experience in planning, economic analysis, policy development, leadership, and management. He has provided counsel in strategy, leadership, management, organizational performance, and sales productivity for numerous Fortune 500 corporations, large institutions, and governments. Chris also has extensive experience and expertise in stakeholder participation processes and has testified as an expert witness on public policy, development, and planning issues.
In addition to his duties at The Hill Group, Chris is also Adjunct Professor of Management and Policy at the Heinz College of Carnegie Mellon University. Chris also served as chairman of the economic development faculty with the Tri-State Leadership Academy, housed at West Virginia University, where he developed curriculum and lectured in strategic planning, management, leadership, and economic development on behalf of the Kellogg Foundation.
Chris’ teaching at the graduate level focuses on management, strategy, and policy analysis. He also has numerous publications and papers on management and policy issues to his credit. Chris attended Allegheny College, Meadville, Pennsylvania, for his Bachelor of Science and the University of Illinois where he studied for his Master of Arts in public and business administration and Doctor of Philosophy in regional planning and economics.
Chris is very active in civic and community issues. He was appointed by Pennsylvania’s Governor to serve on the Commonwealth’s Small Business Council. Chris also serves on the boards of American Society for Competitiveness, Leadership Pittsburgh (Past Chairman), Regional Learning Alliance, Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall (President), Eberly College of Business at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Waynesburg University MBA and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs, and the General Council of Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity.
Chris served as Managing Director of the New Idea Factory, the economic development transition in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and the surrounding region which was the largest transition effort of a metropolitan region in the history of the United States. He also served as Vice President of the Institute of Management Consultants for Western Pennsylvania, Chairman of the Annual Fund at Allegheny College, Director of CONTACT Pittsburgh, and was active in Rotary International. He is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh, a network of regional leaders and decision makers.
Chris was selected as one of the region’s top 20 “Changemakers” by the Pittsburgh Business Times, Pittsburgh Magazine’s top “40 Under 40”, and one of “Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest”. He received a Blue Citation from Allegheny College for a lifetime of outstanding service to his alma mater. Chris was also selected by the Secretary of the Air Force as one of 100 distinguished American leaders to attend the forty-seventh annual National Security Forum at the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base.
