The ALS Association

Hoping for a Cure

Alanna M. Concord, New Hampshire

My grandfather was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 80. Which to my understanding is unusual. It's hard for me to say how things changed when he got diagnosed because from the time of diagnosis to the time of his passing was very short. His disease did progress to the point of his being unable to speak or move, which truly I am thankful for. Before my grandfather's diagnosis, I didn't know of the disease. But now that it has touched my family, I now know how many other families it has touched. MMy hope is for there be be a cure one day.
