We Miss You

Darlene C. Concord, New Hampshire

My mom was a mother of 6, soon to be grandma of 11 and a devoted, loyal wife of nearly 40 years. What does my mother and Lou Gehrig have in common? Nothing. Yet she was diagnosed with the fatal disease and passed in December of 2010. It took her ability to walk, talk, and eventually breathe. It is a slow tedious progression, and the victim is fully aware through the entirety. My mom loved the snow, Christmas, and her kids and she is missed everyday. Our lives have not been the same without her. Her love was known, but unspoken, and her presence will always be felt. We miss you and love you Mom. I will happily dump a bucket of ice water to bring awareness and hopefully one day an actual cure for this unprejudiced disease.
