The ALS Association

It Has Been an Honor to Join the Fight against ALS

Megan E. Phoenix, Arizona

I had no idea what ALS was as a college junior when I began my fundraising internship with The ALS Association Arizona Chapter during the summer of 2009. After working for just a few short months at the Arizona Chapter, I was totally hooked. I worked with a great staff, giving volunteers, and met the most extraordinary people I have ever known: PALS and their families. I returned as an intern for another summer, fall semester, and as a volunteer as I worked toward my graduate degree in public administration at U of A (Go Cats!). Now, as the Walk Coordinator for our chapter, I work with an incredible team dedicated to improving the lives of PALS and finding a cure to this devastating disease. What once started as a summer job quickly became a deeply personal and rewarding experience. I can’t wait to go into work every day to fight for the best people I have ever met. It has been an honor to run the Walks to Defeat ALS in Scottsdale and Tucson and join the fight against ALS with the Arizona Chapter.
